KAYLON HALLMAN BLINDING MY VISION

This Friday, we’re treating you to some rich, calorific soul from Los Angeles’ Kaylon Hallman. Punctuated with funk bass and enlivened with a spacious production, ‘Blinding My Vision’ conveys the inner turmoil of wanting to dive headfirst into a relationship versus the ambition to stay on track with your other life goals. As Hallman puts it: “Blinding My Vision is about having a woman you really love but at the same time, you don’t want to get off track. This also applies to life circumstances, friendships and the environment you keep around you. You want to keep your eyes on the prize and focus on the goals in front of you.” There’s no clear resolve to be found within this song, as his stream-of-consciousness spoken word style reflects the process of still working things out. As with this fusion smooth bass and needling guitar, not everything can be rushed. Let’s take it a little slower today with Kaylon Hallman. - Hannah Thacker
